1. Who We Are and What This Policy Covers
Uprise, Inc. ("the Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates uprisehq.org (the "Service"), an AI-powered financial advisory platform for small business owners. It calculates quarterly estimated taxes, plans retirement contributions (SEP-IRA and Solo 401k), and monitors cash reserves. This Policy covers personal and financial information collected through the Service, its uses, and your available choices.
The Company is at 1201 Second Avenue, Suite 900, Seattle, WA 98104. Privacy questions may be sent to [email protected] or +1 (206) 551-0148.
Uprise provides software. The Company is not a licensed CPA firm, registered investment adviser, or tax preparation service. The Service provides AI-assisted estimates and planning guidance. You remain responsible for filing obligations and should consult a licensed professional before relying on any output.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
When you create an account or use the Service, we collect:
- Account registration: name, email address, and password;
- Business profile: business structure (sole proprietor, LLC, S-corp), estimated quarterly net income, prior-year tax amounts, and retirement account type;
- Integration authorizations: connecting bookkeeping applications (such as QuickBooks, Wave, or FreshBooks) or payroll providers (such as Gusto or Rippling) gives us read-only access to your profit-and-loss data, payroll summaries, and cash position information to generate your quarterly plan;
- Bank feed data: read-only transaction and balance information accessed via API for cash reserve analysis;
- Contact form submissions: messages and questions sent to our team.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
Visiting uprisehq.org automatically provides us with limited technical information:
- IP address and approximate location (city or region level);
- Browser type, operating system, and device class;
- Pages visited, features used, session duration, and referring URLs;
- Cookie and similar identifiers; see Section 5 and our Cookie Policy.
2.3 Financial Data Processing
We process financial data connected through integrations, including bookkeeping records, bank feed, and payroll, only to generate quarterly estimated tax calculations, retirement contribution guidance, and cash reserve action plans. We do not use business financial data to train AI models without your explicit written consent, and we do not sell or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
2.4 Children's Data
The Service is for small business owners and not for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor submitted information through the Service, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
3. How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide the core Service: calculate quarterly estimated tax obligations, produce retirement contribution recommendations, and analyze your cash reserve position;
- Create and update personalized quarterly action plans with specific amounts and deadlines;
- Operate, improve, and troubleshoot the Service, including estimation model accuracy;
- Answer support requests and contact form submissions;
- Send service notifications, quarterly reminders, and payment due alerts; product communications where consent is required;
- Detect and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, and abuse;
- Meet applicable legal and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell personal information for monetary value. For advertising-adjacent data arrangements under applicable state law, see the resident rights section below.
4. Sharing of Information
We share personal and financial information only with:
- Service providers (cloud hosting, authentication, email delivery, self-hosted analytics) under contractual data-processing terms;
- Integration partners for authentication and token refresh operations needed to maintain your read-only connection. We do not pass financial records to integration providers beyond what is technically required;
- Regulatory authorities or law enforcement when required by law or court order, or to protect users' or the Company's safety, rights, or property;
- A successor entity after a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell personal information to third parties.
5. Cookies and Tracking
Cookies and similar technologies keep the Service operating, maintain sessions, and measure aggregate usage. See our Cookie Policy for cookie details, lifetimes, and opt-out choices.
6. Data Retention
We keep account and financial data during account activity and for 12 months after closure, then permanently delete or anonymize it. This supports residual billing or support needs and the standard period for disputing a charge. Integration access tokens are revoked when you disconnect an integration or close your account. Marketing-list contacts without engagement for 24 months are removed. Server access logs remain for 90 days, then are aggregated or deleted.
7. Security
Administrative, technical, and physical safeguards protect processed information. These include TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage for financial records, least-privilege access controls, and read-only API permissions for bookkeeping and bank-feed integrations. The Service has no write access to financial accounts. No system is perfectly secure, so absolute protection from every threat cannot be guaranteed.
8. Your General Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may be able to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information. Email [email protected] with sufficient detail to verify your identity. We respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
9. Washington Residents
